University of Peshawar
launched the first-ever Student Radio Studio of the region on
the 18th of May 2001. Governor NWFP Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Syed Iftikhar
Hussain Shah inaugurated the studio. This broadcasting facility
is part of the Media Training and Research Centre (MTRC) of
the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) University
of Peshawar. The studio officially known as Campus Radio Studio
is established by JMC department in collaboration with Pakistan
Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung
(FES) a German organisation. Initially the Studio will
be a recording house where programmes of students interests
will be prepared and presented by the students themselves. The
programmes prepared thus will be sent on-air by the Radio Pakistan,
Peshawar Station. The service is planned to be extended in the
near future when the duration, scope and contents of the broadcasts
will be enhanced and diversified
